Appalachian Farm Life-Introduction


This story will follow the life of its main character Jasper Turner as he
makes his way into manhood in the early 19th century.

At the opening of the story Jasper is 12 but only two weeks away from his
13th birthday. He is a hard working farm boy who stands about 5' tall and
weighs about 90lbs of lean farm boy muscle. He has dark brown hair and
emerald green eyes. He is not a soft whiney modern style 12-13 year old,
he's a hard working part of the farm and is hard bodied for his size. His
usual every day dress is a pair of hand-me-down overalls and a plain white
button-up shirt. Underwear are considered 'too many clothes' unless its
winter, then he would have on a union suit long underwear on underneath.

His brother Willie is about 3" taller since a recent growth spurt. In
appearance, you can tell he and Jasper are brothers. Willie shares the same
dark brown hair, but has gray eyes. Willie's upper body is already
beginning to turn into that of a man, while Jasper is still more boyish.

The nearest town of size to them is Asheville NC, but its a good day and a
half to two days journey by horse and wagon.
