I woke to a cold but dry day and dressed warm and went for a run. There
was no sign of JJ and I figured it was too cold and it was plenty cold
with the temperature around 28. It wasn't an easy run and I quickly made
coffee and took a very hot shower. I dressed in sweats and grabbed the
morning paper and sat down and drank coffee and read the high school
sports section. Cole and his win, got good coverage but with the final
regular season games completed there was a list of teams who qualified
for the playoffs. In looking at list of 4A teams we were the only
undefeated team and that had to result in a top seed, so I thought. In
looking at 2 A I was glad to see that Sam and his team had qualified and
they looked like a second or third seed as they had finished strong. I
really didn't care about much else. I thought I would go to the gym and
workout and called JJ to see if he was interested. He was all in and I
said 30 minutes and would pick him up.


When JJ got in the car he tossed the new version of long underwear in the
back and asked, where can I get these, they saved my life? I just laughed
and said any sporting goods shop. He said great I'm buying a bunch. At
the gym it was a very solid workout and time in the sauna. We showered

hotel near the airport. Apparently he flew from Allegheny Airport to the
Executive Airport at Greater Pittsburgh. I thought that made sense of he
had business out that way and it wouldn't be an ugly trip across town.
About an hour after his arrival he had a male visitor. Ok Tim, he had a

Ok Tim, I don't care about the sex stuff but I would like to know some
of the details of those meetings. I assume if we pay the guy "for their
time" we could get some information. Tim, the meeting with my
girlfriends father has a lot of interest to me as it was either a
settlement or a developing scheme. Mike, no money has exchanged hands so
they were planning something and this trip provided the opportunity for a
personal meeting. Tim, can we slow thing down while we figure this out?
Mike, that will be hard and I'm betting that what they are planning will
happen after we close and they will try to stop the building. Tim, did we
keep the zoning approval in the agreement. Tim said, well I didn't
thrust them and kept that in. Well let's start that process and hold to
that with no closing until it is confirmed in writing by the City
Planning Commission. Mike, I don't see how they can fuck with us. Then I
took a deep breath and said if I have to, I'll endorse the Mayor for
Governor. Tim laughed and said well don't be hasty. Tim, thanks for all
the work and the information. I should be in most of the day because
there will be no movies as we don't know who we will play or if we have
the week off. Tim, we have a bunch flying to the Cape for the shuttle
liftoff and a few meetings do you want to come? When he hesitated I said
Tim, the Majors will be flying us and we are renting a jet. We will leave
Saturday early or late Friday if I don't have a game and be back late
Sunday. He laughed and said sure. I'll have our guys vet the hookers and
see what comes up with that. I said thanks and hung up.


I picked up my phone and called Sam. When he answered I congratulate him
on a good season and making the playoffs. He was real excited and asked
all kind of questions about what it was like and I laughed and said well
it's hard. You will be well scouted and the opponents will be well

The game was boring as Neil O'Donnell was the new QB and there was still
not an acceptable replacement after Bradshaw. It was all good as we
managed a win over Cleveland. As the game ended I told him about David
and JJ, almost fell off the loveseat laughing. Then he got serious and
said you should bet him and when it's time to pay up hire a substitute.
I found that funny but I wanted something much more hurtful. Something
that would let him know I know but not use it against him. Then I
remembered that I had asked Tim to quietly run his financials. That was
something else I would fuck with. There would be a lot to consider but

followed and running financials on people all through your attorney and

I was sitting there and thinking about JJ's comments and had to agree, I
was a bit over the line and couldn't be like everyone else. I was tired
and it was a long day and I decided to get to bed a bit early when Cole
came in and said MJ, mom said you wanted to talk. I laughed and said well
she meant to say she wanted me to talk with you about Jessica. Mike, I'm

we had reached an agreement to purchase the land next to our current
building and once a few zoning issues were resolved we would expand
again. Major, please gently say the zoning was a condition of the sale
and if that wasn't resolved in the time frame outlined in the sales
agreement we would be left with no choice but to move on. Please add that
other sites were under considering in Moon Twp. Jim asked, ok Mike, who

Then I asked that the press release be sent to the high school people at
the paper and TV. The Major laughed again saying so you are playing the

a minute and said sure and we hung up.


Tim and I chatted for a while and he was glad that we would have a week
off and said that he hoped I could relax some in Florida. I was about
1:15 when a very casually dressed Senator Dawida appeared with Liam. We
shook hands and I introduced Tim and the Senator said Mike, I know I'm a
bit late but I made this very polite young man take me on a tour. Well

was a very brief explanation of some of the pictures and moved we to the

and asked her to tell the Major it was good to go. I apologized to the

So Mike, how was all this accomplished by a 17 year old? Senator I was 16

myself available at your request. I would ask, however, that you work
with Tim so that my schedule remains clear. In addition I would like to
know in advance about the procedures. Mike, you will be given the
opportunity to make a statement and then we will ask questions and you
are certainly free to have your attorney there as well. Understand, you
are under no legal jeopardy. I replied Senator, that works. Oh, thanks as
Dr. Bob owes me dinner at a place of my choosing and he will be driving
here and dinner is at Oakmont. Mike, after the hearing. Senator, that's
fine but it is more than likely he won't be speaking to me after I

As I was walking the Senator out, he asked if I wanted help with the
